Cypress Street Pint and Plate Welcomes Matt Deckard as New Chef
A veteran chef with a rich history in Atlanta, Deckard joins the wily team at one of Midtown's favorite haunts and craft beer bars.

Cypress Street Pint and Plate, a neighborhood staple known for its burgers, brews and events, is pleased to welcome Matt Deckard. The welcoming is just in time; right before Cypress Street heads back to Las Vegas this November for the World Burger Championship, where their celebrated Sublime Doughnut Burger earned the title of the second best burger in the world in 2013.
Before taking over the kitchen at Cypress Street Pint and Plate this fall, Deckard worked in Charleston, South Carolina where he developed a passion for seafood and southern cuisine. After moving to Atlanta, he further honed his craft by working in a number of restaurants including Garrison’s Broiler & Tap, Taco Mac, and Deckard’s Tavern. With a love of all things beer, Deckard is now working side-by-side with co-owner Billy Streck and Cypress Street Pint and Plate’s resident beer expert, Rob “BrewRu” Merrick to continue to build the restaurant’s beer program and commitment to serve delicious food from daily specials, and seasonal dishes to creative burgers and sandwiches, vibrant salads, entrees, desserts and more. Although knee-deep in planning their attack for 2014 World Burger Championship, Deckard will also working with Streck and Merrick to revamp the lunch, dinner and weekend brunch menus in the coming the weeks.
About Cypress Street Pint and Plate:
Billy and Jenn Streck moved to Atlanta from the East Village in Manhattan to pursue their dream in opening a neighborhood pub and to start their new family. In 2007, the duo teamed up with some local pals and opened Cypress Street Pint and Plate in the heart of Midtown behind the historic Biltmore on the corner of 6th street and Cypress Street (817 West Peachtree, Suite E-125, Atlanta, Georgia). A throwback to when the drinks were always cold, the food was always hot, and the bar-staff knew your name, Cypress has become a longstanding neighborhood favorite. Known for its beer program led by Rob “BrewRu Merrick, Cypress has fourteen beers on tap, forty bottled selections, a beer cellar, and hosts “Beer Geek Tuesday” each week for the craft beer enthusiast. Offering a full menu until they close and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, Cypress is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 2:30 a.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until midnight.
