Born in Saigon, South Vietnam, Monique Truong's first novel, “The Book of Salt” was a national bestseller and the recipient of the New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award among many others. Her second novel, “Bitter in the Mouth," is the inaugural selection of the Ladies Home Journal Book Club, and received the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Truong will deliver the Feminist Founders Reading on Wednesday, March 21 and will also hold a public colloquium Thursday, March 22 at 2:30 in the Calloway Center on Emory’s campus where she will discuss her creative process and answer questions from the audience. Both events are free and open to the public with a book-signing to follow the reading.
