Born in Saigon and living in New York, Truong’s first novel, The Book of Salt, was a New York Times Notable Book and one The New York Public Library Young Lions Fictions Award among many others. Her second novel, Bitter in the Mouth, received the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award, and she is a 2010 Guggenheim recipient.
