Rosemary Magee, vice president and secretary of Emory University, will lead a creativity conversation featuring Edgar W. Francisco III, an alumnus of Emory and Yale universities and an economist who worked in health care policy, and longtime faculty member Sally Wolff-King. Wolff-King currently teaches Southern literature in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences, where she previously served as associate dean and assistant vice president.
The conversation will focus on Wolff-King’s new book "Ledgers of History: William Faulkner, an Almost Forgotten Friendship," and an Antebellum Plantation Diary. Francisco’s father was a longtime friend of Faulkner and their relationship, along with information revealed in their family diary, inspired some of Faulkner's best writing.
Magee will discuss with Francisco and Wolff-King the family stories as told by Dr. Francisco and the previously unexplored diary that cast light on a fascinating literary friendship.
