Schola Cantorum de Venezuela

Internationally acclaimed Schola Cantorum de Venezuela (SCV) performs “Aqua and Fiesta,” a program of Latin American choral works.

Founded in 1967 by Maestro Alberto Grau, the group has performed around the world and in many notable festivals and competitions, including Tanglewood Music Festival, Ravinia Music Festival, and the International Polyphonic Competition.  They have also performed under the baton of some of the most prominent conductors in the world, including Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, Gustavo Dudamel, Helmuth Rilling, and Robert Spano.  Currently, SCV has recorded more than 25 albums and in recent years it premiered John Adam’s opera, A Flowering Tree, at the New Crown Hope Festival in Vienna, which was also recorded under Nonesuch Records.

SCV's repertoire includes works from Spanish, Italian, French and English Renaissance, German and Italian Baroque; contemporary Venezuelan and universal composers, a vast collection of Venezuelan and Latin American traditional music, and a number of symphony-choral pieces.
