Pathbuilders President, Helene Lollis, Leads Panel at Emory University’s 2013 Executive Women of Goizueta Advancing Women in Leadership Conference

ATLANTA (Nov. 15, 2013)—Helene Lollis, president of Pathbuilders, facilitated a panel discussion today at the Advancing Women in Leadership conference hosted by Emory University’s Executive Women of Goizueta. The event was themed, “Re-set, Re-energize, Re-invent.” Lollis led a one-hour panel discussion focusing on “Reinventing Leadership: Experiences That Transcend Careers.” The conversation highlighted experiences, best practices and advice from women who developed their leadership skills in one avenue and have since transitioned to another quite different role.

CEO of the Atlanta Dream, Atlanta’s WNBA franchise and Eastern Conference champions three of the last four years. She has been with the Dream just over a year, and began her 17-year career in financial services having worked with Invesco as well as Homrich Berg. Ashley is a Goizueta graduate having earned her MBA in Finance.

Senior VP of Human Resources for OFS Fitel, the organization first to market many of the fiber optic products that set today’s industry standards. In the corporate world, she also held management roles with organizations such as Mobil, Motorola, Bausch & Lomb, and Eastman Kodak. Stephanie began her career as an Army officer in the Signal Corps with commands including Germany, France and Korea.
Carrie Kurlander
VP of Public Relations for Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A, a $4B privately-held company. Prior to this role, she served as VP of Communications at Southern Company. Carrie began her career as a reporter and news anchor for television stations in Alabama and Louisiana before transitioning to corporate life as press secretary for the Governor of Alabama.
Vikki Millender-Morrow
President and CEO of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, a non-profit focused on empowering young people to improve their overall health and well-being so they are better equipped to make healthy lifestyle choices. Prior to this role, she was CEO of Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta. All of this followed a 20-year career at BellSouth where Vikki’s engineering background positioned her for roles in product management, sales, regulatory and HR.
The women shared insights around significant transition periods in their career; how they have leveraged themselves for opportunities that may or may not have been apparent; and ways leadership has evolved as workforce demographics and technology have undergone significant shifts.
“Each woman featured on the panel has made an interesting career transition and as a result has enhanced the value she has been able to contribute to her organization and to the community,” Lollis shared of the panel and discussion. “I am grateful to the Executive Women of Goizueta for providing a forum for these successful professionals to share their stories and inspire others who are focused on their career growth and seeking increased responsibility. I hope the stories shared inspire attendees to ‘Reset, Re-energize and Re-invent’ their career trajectories on their own terms.”
