Publix Super Markets Charities Supports Atlanta Habitat
Publix Super Markets Charities donates $4 million to Habitat for Humanity affiliates, including Atlanta Habitat.

Publix Super Markets Charities (PSMC) announced Sept. 29 that it would donate $4 million to Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the Southeast. The donation will provide funding to build 40 new houses in 2016 as well as increase support to more than 60 Habitat for Humanity affiliates that the foundation currently funds.
Atlanta Habitat will benefit from Publix’s generous gift. “We greatly appreciate this generous donation from Publix Super Markets Charities that will provide a home for a deserving homeowner,” said Lisa Y. Gordon, president and CEO, Atlanta Habitat. “Publix has had an ongoing commitment to our organization, beginning in 1997 with 14 continuous years of providing volunteers for house builds and continuing with both financial and volunteer support since 2012. Thanks to Publix Super Markets Charities, 18 deserving families are already in homes, and we will build for our 19th Publix family in 2016.”
Publix Super Markets associates will invest sweat equity in building Habitat houses in 2016 during its Publix Serves campaign, and Publix will donate groceries to fill the pantry of Atlanta Habitat’s new house. “Publix associates are the best in the industry,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “Giving back is what we do. It is our culture.” PSMC began its support of Habitat for Humanity in 1989 with its first contribution to Habitat for Humanity of East Polk County (Winter Haven, Fla.).
