“Putting Lipstick on a Sculpture” to Open at Callanwolde
Exhibit will run from June through August

A new art exhibit will open at in June.
“Putting Lipstick on a Sculpture,” a project by Atlanta resident Kelly O’Brien, looks at “society’s superficial expectations of beauty.”
“Defining beauty is problematic, so is defining sculpture,” O’Brien said. “My recent work is an investigation of the fragile boundaries that separate beautiful from grotesque.”

The exhibit opens Friday, June 8, and features sculptures and paintings.
“My curiosity lies in opposites that share similar qualities,” O’Brien said. “Cheap becomes classy, bland becomes bright, bulge becomes gaunt, and all is turned inside out.”

If you go: Exhibit opening with artist reception, Friday, June 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Callanwolde, 980 Briarcliff Rd., on the second floor.
The exhibit will run through August 24. Hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 a.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
