The Georgia Department of Education released the 2012 results of the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests.

Overall, scores are trending upward statewide. The percentage of third-grade students who exceeded the standards in 2012 compared with 2011 increased by:
- 7% in Reading
- 3% in English/Language Arts
- 3% in Math
- 3% in Science
- 4% in Social Studies
