Waffold Sandwich Shop Closes After Six Weeks

Owners site "unfortunate circumstances"

After only six weeks since opening, sandwich shop in Morningside shut its doors this week.

"Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, Waffold had to close," owners posted on the window of the restaurant on N. Highland Avenue.

Some speculate the closure of the restaurant could stem from trademark troubles reported last month. A California-based company claimed to own the rights to the phrase “gourmet waffle sandwiches.”
