Vahi Civic Association Meets at Ponce Library; Zoning Variance Postponed
The Virginia-Highland Civic Association Board met Monday night to discuss a zoning variance and the upcoming Morningside Mile Race and Block Party.

The Virginia-Highland Civic Association met Monday night at the Ponce De Leon Library.
On the agenda for the night was a zoning variance for a property at 1095 N. Highland Avenue. Applicant Chris Hamilton, owner of Atlanta-based building and renovation company, Dovetail Craftsmen, spoke on behalf of the homeowner.
"They’re going to be redoing the garage and adding a second story above the garage, within the existing footprint of the house
except for the back."

The board did not meet quorum so the vote was postponed to an e-mail vote to be gathered at a later date.
In other news, plans for the Morningside Mile Race and Block Party were discussed. The one-mile "fun run" is planned for Oct. 16 as a benefit for the restoration of historic Virginia Highland Fire Station 19. The race has a cap of 1,000 participants.

The annual Virginia-Highland Civic Association meeting and board election will take place Monday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Inman Middle School cafeteria. All meetings are open to the public.
