β’ Woman Who Kidnapped 2 Atlanta Sisters Has Prior Cases, Alledgedly Faked Pregnancy (blackamericaweb.com) β A woman now jailed in Fulton County on kidnapping charges previously lived in Powder Springs, where deputies say she once faked a pregnancy and showed baby photos in an alleged scam. Investigators in Paulding County reported she misled them about having a newborn, while Atlanta police recently rescued two young sisters found with her in a locked trailer.

β’ Asa Montgomery Schedules UNC Official Visit (on3.com) β A standout Hillgrove High basketball forward from Powder Springs, Asa Montgomery, has scheduled an official visit to North Carolina for the weekend of Sept. 25 as part of a packed fall recruiting tour. Ranked No. 16 nationally in the 2027 class, he's drawing offers from top programs after a strong summer on the travel circuit and with Team USA.

β’ Keep Cobb Beautiful launches alkaline battery recycling program at seven library branches (blogspot.com) β Powder Springs-area residents now have a closer option to safely recycle household alkaline batteries, thanks to a new Cobb County program that includes a drop-off at the Sweetwater Valley library on Austell Powder Springs Road. Seven branches countywide are accepting common sizes like AA and AAA at their circulation desks, helping keep hazardous waste out of landfills and reducing fire risks for sanitation workers.
