WOODSTOCK, GA — Woodstock's newest deputy police chief brings at least 25 years of experience to the Cherokee County town, city officials announced Thursday.
The City of Woodstock has tapped Todd Hood to fill the deputy police chief role for Woodstock Police, officials said.
Hood served as division commander for the chief's office of Johns Creek Police, of which Woodstock officials said he was a founding member and has served since March 2008. Hood's career began in 1998 with Alpharetta Police.
Before then, the four-year Marine Corps. veteran was on assignment for the White House Military Office as part of presidential security, city officials said.
Hood earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice from Columbia Southern University and a master of public safety administration from Columbus State University.
He is a Leadership Johns Creek graduate and a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 292.
Additionally, Hood participated in the Georgia Israel Law Enforcement Executive Exchange Program's 29th delegation, during which he spent two weeks studying public safety practices in Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, according to city officials.
"Deputy Chief Hood will connect the police department and the community with a leadership philosophy centered on service, accountability and strong relationships," Woodstock Police Chief Roland Castro said in a news release. "His experience and commitment to excellence make him an excellent addition to our team."
