• County issues storm recovery update (thegardenisland.com subscription) — Hanalei residents can now access in-person hurricane recovery help at the Hanalei Neighborhood Center, including unemployment, SNAP support, and real property tax assistance, plus an hourly shuttle from Hanalei Colony Resort. The county's latest update also covers North Shore debris pickup, utility and water notices, emergency food distributions, and which county services and facilities are open as Kauai continues recovering from Hurricane Lowell and monitors Hurricane Nolo.
   

• News Briefs for Monday, September 28, 2026 (thegardenisland.com subscription) — Hanalei households are now cleared to resume normal water use, as the Department of Water has lifted the conservation notice for the Hanalei Water System following recent storm impacts. The county also details ongoing lane closures in Wailua and Kapaʻa for sewer inspections and lists which other Kauai water systems remain under or lifted from conservation notices.
   

• Leaders invite travelers back to Kauai as North Shore recovers (khon2.com) — Hanalei residents are seeing a key local employer, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, reopen after more than two weeks without power from Hurricane Lowell, bringing back hundreds of jobs and visitors. Tourism leaders stress that while some North Shore spots like Hanalei Pier remain off-limits, most of Kauai is open and they're urging respectful travelers to return and support local businesses.
