• Flash flood warning triggers Kauai school, highway closures (hawaiinewsnow.com) — Hanalei residents should know that Hanalei Elementary School is closed today and Kuhio Highway near the Hanalei River Bridge is shut down because of dangerous flash flooding. A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Kauai, with officials urging drivers to avoid crossing fast-moving water and to expect ponding, low visibility, and hazardous road conditions around the North Shore.
   

• Kauai Surf Forecast for October 01, 2026 : Kauai Now (kauainownews.com) — Surfers and beachgoers in Hanalei can expect modest 1–3 foot north shore surf today, with cloudy skies, numerous showers, and light southeast winds. The forecast includes precise high and low tide times for Hanalei Bay and notes lingering west-southwest swell from Hurricane Nolo, with more small swells and slightly higher east shore surf expected later this week.
