Today's riddle: What is the longest word in the dictionary? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Honolulu reveals new Purple Heart plate design after 35 years (khon2.com) — Honolulu has rolled out a redesigned Purple Heart license plate and added three new Purple Heart City signs across Oʻahu, underscoring the city's commitment to combat-wounded veterans. Eligible veterans can now apply at any satellite city hall, paying a small additional fee and providing proof of eligibility, while new signs in Waiʻanae, Makiki and Mililani visibly honor their sacrifice.
• Nearly all customers impacted by Lala should get power back: HECO (khon2.com) — From Honoluluan Electric says nearly all customers hit by Tropical Storm Lala on Hawaiʻi Island should have power back by tonight, with Oʻahu and Maui essentially restored. About 10,000 Big Island customers remain out as crews, including helpers from California, continue repairs. HECO also reminds customers it generally isn't liable for storm-related losses like spoiled food or medications and explains how to file claims.
• 'Such a joy': Hawaii roots bond local players on California Golden Bears roster (hawaiinewsnow.com) — From HonoluluNewsNow spotlights eight Hawaiʻi-born players thriving on the California Golden Bears football team, including starting quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele. Local standouts from Saint Louis, Kahuku and Kamehameha describe how their shared island roots, culture and even who cooks the rice keep them closely bonded far from home.
