1. Honolulu police arrest inmate who didn't return after work furlough release (kitv.com) — Honolulu police located and arrested an inmate in the Pearlridge area who failed to return from a work furlough pass, ending a search coordinated with state law enforcement and corrections officials. 2. C may fail despite restored power after Lala (khon2.com) — Power may be back on in Honolulu, but many residents and businesses are still facing broken elevators and stalled A/C systems after Hurricane Lala. Engineers say safety shutoffs, damaged parts, and a shortage of specialized technicians mean some buildings could wait weeks or even months before everything is running normally again.

3. Oʻahu community comes together to send supplies to Kaʻu (khon2.com) — A small Oʻahu group is rallying near Honolulu's airport, filling a donated shipping container with supplies for Hurricane Lala survivors in Kaʻū. Volunteers are collecting cleaning products, hygiene items, kūpuna medical supplies and more through the weekend, before the container sails Tuesday to Kawaihae and on to Naʻalehu to support families still without basic services.

4. UH Wahine Soccer shuts out HPU, 7-0 (hawaiinewsnow.com) — UH Mānoa's Wahine soccer team thrilled Honolulu fans with a dominant 7-0 shutout of Hawaii Pacific, highlighted by a hat trick from Kamehameha alum Anuhea Aluli. The win at home boosts the 'Bows to 2-3 and sets up two more afternoon matches this week against New Mexico State and Washington State, both kicking off at 4 p.m. Hawaiʻi time.

5. DHHL breaks ground on new lots in West Oahu (hawaiinewsnow.com) — State leaders gathered in Waiʻanae for a groundbreaking that will create 24 new Hawaiian Home Lands lots in West Oʻahu, including 16 in Kapolei. For Honolulu-area families on the DHHL list, these factory-built modular homes mark a small but meaningful step toward getting keys in hand and staying rooted on Oʻahu.
