Get it in the green bin for Oʻahu's G.R.O.W. program (hawaiipublicradio.org) — If you live in Kailua and use Honolulu's gray, blue and green bins, you're now asked to toss all food scraps into the green bin so they can be turned into compost instead of burned. The city's expanded G.R.O.W. program, built on a pilot that included Kailua, aims to boost low participation rates and ease pressure on Oʻahu's landfills.
