• Maui Food Bank names Maui native as chief operating officer (mauinews.com) — Maui residents, especially those in Lahaina, may be encouraged that Maui Food Bank's new COO helped guide teams through the 2023 Lahaina wildfire response. Kaleena Wakamatsu Fryer now oversees food strategy across Maui County, aiming to ensure keiki, kūpuna, and families have reliable access to food as recovery continues.
• LPGA Tour reveals 2027 Schedule; record-breaking prize fund surpassing $147 million; CPKC Women's Open Aug. 16-22 at Royal Ottawa in Gatineau, QC (wordpress.com) — Lahaina will host the 2027 LOTTE Championship at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, bringing top LPGA golfers and a $3 million purse to Maui. The newly released LPGA schedule features 33 events worldwide and a record $147 million in prize money, including back-to-back Hawaii tournaments that could draw visitors and attention to the islands.
