• Boise police corporal claims he suffered spinal injury in training gone wrong (idahostatesman.com) — A longtime Boise police corporal has filed a tort claim seeking over $1 million from the City of Boise after a February training exercise allegedly damaged his spinal stimulator and led to major back surgery and nerve issues. The claim describes ongoing pain, medical costs, and lost wages, and follows a previous high-dollar settlement over another Boise Police training injury.
• The City of Boise breaks ground on its 103rd park (idahonews.com) — Boise has officially broken ground on Alta Harris Park, a new 20-acre community space in Southeast Boise that will become the city's 103rd park and connect to the Greenbelt. Backed by city funds and private donations, the park is planned to feature sports fields, a nature playground, pickleball and bocce courts, and shaded gathering areas as construction progresses in phases.
• Fire help arrives from across the globe (boisedev.com) — Boise's National Interagency Fire Center is serving as the landing and briefing hub for nearly 200 firefighters from Australia and New Zealand who've arrived to bolster U.S. wildfire efforts. International specialists are embedding with U.S. teams as large fires, including the Big Grass Fire spanning Eastern Oregon and Southwestern Idaho, strain resources. Officials say the nation is at its highest wildfire preparedness level.
