Girl, 3, Dies After 'Evil' Stabbing Rampage At Birthday Party
Seven people remain hospitalized, police said Monday. Many have serious or critical injuries.

BOISE, ID — A 3-year-old girl has died two days after an "evil individual" went on an unprovoked stabbing rampage at a birthday party in Boise. Police on Monday said the girl was airlifted to a hospital in Utah following the attack Saturday night.
"It is with deep sorrow we share the news that she has passed away today," police said in a release Monday.
Her name will not be released until further notifications can be made.

Nine people in all were injured in the stabbing, including six children ranging in age from about 3-12 years old. Three adults who tried to intervene and protect the children were also hurt. All of the victims are from Syria, Iraq or Ethiopia. The apartment complex houses refugees.
Seven of the eight remaining victims remain hospitalized, police said. Many suffered serious or critical injuries. One child was treated and released from a hospital. Due to the nature of their injuries police will not provide regular status updates.

“This was an attack on those who are most vulnerable: our children,” said Boise Police Chief William Bones. “It’s untenable, unconscionable and is pure evil in my mind.
Timmy Kinner, 30, who is not a refugee, was a temporary resident at the apartment complex on Wylie Lane and State Street and was asked to leave Friday, police previously said.
Around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the apartment complex for a report of a knife-wielding man. Officers quickly found the suspect and arrested him several minute later as he was heading northbound near the apartments.
Victim witness coordinators and counselors will help the families and witnesses in the days and weeks ahead.
“As you can imagine the witnesses in the apartment complex along with the rest of our community are reeling from this attack,"said Bones. "This incident is not a representation of our community but a single evil individual who attacked people without provocation that we are aware of at this time."
Bones said their "hearts go out to the victims."
Kinner was questioned by detectives and booked into the Ada County Jail on Saturday night. He faces nine counts of aggravated battery and six counts of injury to a child. Charges could be changed for his arraignment Monday afternoon.
Police said Kinner has an "extensive criminal history" spanning several states. He was incarcerated at one point and has acted violently against others. He had only been in Idaho a short time and had no prior arrests in Idaho. He is not a refugee.
There is no evidence to suggest that this was a hate crime, police said.
A candlelight vigil is planned in honor of the victims on the steps of City Hall on Monday night at 6 p.m.
“Boise is a welcoming city. We have been that way for generations,” said Mayor David Bieter. He added: “This callous act does not reflect our community.”
