Hey, people of Boise! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.

Someone was up in the early morning hours of Saturday hanging banners from overpasses. Unfortunately, they were not supporting the upcoming football season. Switching sports, a special needs baseball team in Boise is looking for both players and volunteers. Fewer job seekers are looking towards law enforcement as a career, causing a crunch and a Boise landmark is looking towards new uses. Finally, take a look back at Boise using post cards.

First, today's weather: Rain in the morning. High: 90 Low: 70.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. The Boise Police were busy Saturday removing "Proud Boys" banners from several overpasses around Boise. KBCI-TV carries the story of the identified hate group according to numerous organizations. (Idaho News)
  2. The "Boise Bluebirds" is looking for players and volunteers for the upcoming season. The alternative baseball team includes players ages 15 and older with special needs according to Nicole Camarda of KIVI-TV. (6 On Your Side)
  3. Across the nation, 90 percent of police agencies state they are under-staffed and Scott Logan of KBCI-TV reports local law enforcement agencies are no different. Citing lack of housing in the area and the changing atmosphere surrounding policing, sheriffs and police chiefs are on the hunt for new personnel. (Idaho News)
  4. BoiseDev's Don Day and Margaret Carmel provide an update on an old hotel on Vista Avenue near the airport. At one time considered a highlight of Boise accommodations, plans are in the works for a smaller hotel along with permanent housing. (boisedev.com)
  5. One method to look back on how grand Boise was in the past is post cards. LiteFM's Michelle Heart uses an array of old cards to celebrate the capital city's past including the Nat, the Owyhee Hotel and others. (liteonline.com)

- Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week, a community Latch On will take place Sunday at the state capital. Attendees are encouraged to latch their babies on at 12 pm. World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) occurs annually on the first week of August and represents a global celebration of breastfeeding efforts including breastfeeding promotion, support, education, research, progressive trends and normalizing breastfeeding as the gold standard of infant nutrition. Breastfeeding (a.k.a. chest-feeding) is an act of love which needs no interpreter from country to country or parent to parent. Breastfeeding instead is its own language—a language of joy, bonding, growth and nutrition that is spoken from one body to another without sound. There is no other substance on earth like breast milk.

If you can't make it in person, take a selfie while you feed your little one and share to social media using the hashtags #breflie #brelfies #bravebrelfie #WBW2021 #SharedResponsibility (12 PM)
