In post-9/11 Newark, NJ, two teenagers who were brought to America as children become one another's sanctuaries from harsh circumstances. When G becomes naturalized, she and B hatch a plan so that he may legally remain in the country and pursue the future he imagines for his life. But as time hurtles on and complications mount, the young friends find that this plan challenges and fractures the closest relationship either has ever had.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Martyna Majok, Sanctuary City is a powerful exploration of friendship, love, and what it means to find home in an uncertain world.

Cory Michaelis has opened for and been mentored by Louie Anderson who helped him record a 45-minute squeaky-clean comedy special “Bad Teacher” in Provo, Utah for <a href="https://drybarcomedy.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">DryBarComedy.com</a>.<a href="https://drybarcomedy.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"> </a>
<a href="https://drybarcomedy.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Additionally, h</a>is first album “The Collage Dropout” (45 minutes of not-quite-as-clean material) was released June 19th, 2018 on 800 Pound Gorilla Records and reached #2 on the Billboard Chart and iTunes charts. Cory is a regular headliner in all of the clubs in the Pacific Northwest, opener at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, and has headlined many fine and not-so-fine comedy clubs, casinos, colleges, and weird bars all over the country. He was invited to the NOHO Comedy Festival, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, Oregon, the Limestone Comedy Festival in Bloomington, Indiana, and headlined the Idaho Laugh Fest in Boise. 
Cory was also a finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition. Louie says Cory is “too mean to Roze” – come see what he’s talking about!

Karen Morgan is a former trial attorney who began her comedy career as a Finalist on Nickelodeon Television’s Search for the Funniest Mom in America. She has now been performing clean standup comedy nationwide in theaters and performing arts centers for almost two decades.
Karen has 2 Dry Bar Comedy Specials: Go Dawgs (with millions of views on Facebook &amp; YouTube) and now Rub Some Dirt On It (Top 10 List of 2023). Her latest comedy album, Shiny Happy People Laughing (named with special permission from REM), was recorded in her home town of Athens, Georgia; it plays on 4 different channels on Sirius XM Radio. She has several television appearances including The Talk on CBS, Gotham Comedy Live, and ads for Wal-Mart and Zyrtec. She has also been featured in The Washington Post, Huff Post and The Insider.
Karen entertains audiences nationwide with her relatable observations of family and everyday life. Her funny, sentimental stories of growing up in the 1970s &amp; 80s are a particularly big hit with Gen Xers, Gen Jonesers and Baby Boomers. Karen’s “real” humor, clean material and conversational delivery connect quickly with audiences. She has also built a strong community of friends on social media who love to buy tickets to her live shows. Karen lives in Cumberland, Maine but loves to travel all over the country for comedy shows, especially if there is a Waffle House along the way.

Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Lara Beitz is a star in the Los Angeles comedy scene. Her stand-up has been featured on Showtime, Comedy Central, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. On Comedy Central’s Lights Out with David Spade, she was the first comedian ever to do stand-up. Following that performance, she was made a regular panelist on the show. After being named a New Face at the 2022 Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, she was asked to appear in their Best of The Fest TV special, which was then made available on AppleTV+ and Crave in Canada. Lara can also be seen in Showtime’s Comedy Store docuseries. She has toured with Joe Rogan, Marc Maron, Theo Von, and Pete Holmes, and has been interviewed on The Joe Rogan Experience, WTF with Marc Maron, You Made it Weird with Pete Holmes, and many, many more. She is an internationally touring headliner and performs regularly at The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and Laugh Factory. Hear You Loud &amp; Queer is a comedy show in Portland, Oregon three years running as the premiere queer stand up comedy showcase. Hear You Loud &amp; Queer was founded by Ally J Ward, Portland’s Funniest Person 2025, and features the best queer, trans, and nonbinary comedians in Portland and beyond. The show has booked national acts like Arlo Weierhauser, Mx. Dahlia Belle, Ren Q. Dawe, Juno Men, Andy Iwancio, and Gwen Rose. Its mission is to highlight and showcase queer joy while maintaining a punk edge.&nbsp;

About the comedians:
Ally J Ward is a self described dumb baby and good girl. She is a trans comedian, improviser, and storyteller out of Portland, OR. She’s been named a “Hottest Queer Comedian of Today” by Out Magazine, featured on the Moth Grand Stage, and named Portland’s Funniest Person by the Willamette Week. She’s featured for comedians Ian Karmel, Juno Birch, Alex Hooper, Rachel Scanlon, and Rosebud Baker. Her debut special, Imposter Syndrome, will be out Summer of 2026!
Mack Lee is a nonbinary comic &amp; Portland native. Their gender identity is a mix between Mac Demarco &amp; Shadow the Hedgehog: trashy, edgy, and a little furry in some places. Mack's comedy aims to eliminate feelings of shame through exploration of kink, mental health and queerness. They are the co-host &amp; co-producer of Queer AF, Hear You Loud &amp; Queer, &amp; Heart Throb, the comedy dating show.
Imani is a comic born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. They’re an outloud and proud gay nonbinary comedian who’s unapologetically themselves on stage, combining elements&nbsp; of storytelling and physical comedy. That creates raunchy, raw, and relatable sets based on their experiences with race, gender, and sexuality and Portlandia.
Jess Kapinaris was born and raised in the Bay Area. Jess is an up-and-coming queer comedian bringing a bit more sunshine to the Portland scene. You can catch her at mics and shows around Portland, delivering comedy about being a sensitive bisexual with energy that’s bubbly, charismatic, and a little anxious. Jess works to blend her deep-rooted unseriousness with shameless vulnerability, resulting in creative, chaotic jokes and unexpected punches. When she’s not performing, she can be found trying to pet stray cats or deleting excess exclamation points from all her written content!!!!!
