This past weekend, members of the Boise Police Association and community volunteers helped fill and distribute 300 backpacks for Boise students. Officers and their guests spent Friday night going round and round an assembly line filling the backpacks with pencils, paper, markers, glue, and more. Saturday morning they gathered again as students and their families drove in and picked up their school supplies during a drive-through version of “Shop With A Cop.” Thanks to partnerships with local schools and community organizations as well as year-round donations from the community, the association was able to identify students in need ahead of time and provide them with vouchers that they used to pick up the backpacks on Saturday. Each student also received a $100 gift card to Walmart to shop for any additional items they may need.

“Events like ‘Shop with a Cop’ give members of the Boise Police Association and others throughout the Treasure Valley a great opportunity to give back,” said the Boise Police Association’s Officer Bradley. “We’re always looking for more volunteers that can help us help our community.”
The Boise Police Association has already set a new goal of providing 600 backpacks to local students next year.
