Hello, people of Boise! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.

Welcome to the Sunday edition of the Boise Daily. Prepare to watch the snowboarding portion of the Olympics as an Idahoan will be in the mix. An Idaho lawmaker, currently running for lieutenant governor, is being sued and a group of homeless protestors in Boise are seeking legal protection from law enforcement. A young local author chose a different route to make sure his book was enjoyed and tattoos and piercings will soon replace burger and fries.

  1. Idahoans will be able to cheer on one of their own as the Olympics start. KTVB-TV's Jeremy Stiles reports on Hailey resident Chase Josey, a snowboarder making his second Olympic appearance. (KTVB)
  2. An Idaho lawmaker who was censured after publicizing the name of a 19-year-old intern who reported being raped is being sued under the state's public records act. In an Associated Press story carried by the East Idaho News, attorney Erika Birch filed the lawsuit earlier this month against Rep. Priscilla Giddings, a Republican from White Bird, contending Giddings didn't comply with state law when she denied a public records requests for documents related to the ethics cases against Giddings and former Republican lawmaker Aaron von Ehlinger.   3. A group of homeless protestors state they will seek legal action if the Idaho State Police attempt to interfere with their staying in tents at the old Ada County Courthouse location. CBS2 news staff speak with law enforcement personnel regarding the issue. (Idaho News)
  4. Every budding author has a dream to have a book published. KLIX's Jeff interviews an eight-year old Boise boy who decided to forego the middle man by writing a book and sneaking it onto a local library's shelf. After the book was found by librarians, it was made official and a waiting list now exists if you wish to check it out. (News Radio 1310 KLIX)
  5. The days of servers on roller skates apparently will not return. BoiseDev editor Don Day writes the old Rockies Diner on Overland Road has been purchased by Kendall Vader, owner of Born Weird Tattoo and Piercing, which currently has a location on Broadway Ave. (BoiseDev)

Boise Fact of the Day:

On 6 April 1896, the American James Connolly won the triple jump to become the first Olympic champion in more than 1,500 years. He also finished second in the high jump and third in the long jump.
