Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- The pens are running out of ink at a Boise high school. KTVB-TV staff were present as a record 27 Bishop Kelly athletes gathered Wednesday to sign their National Letter of Intent to play at the collegiate level. Eagle High School was close with 20 student athletes placing their signatures on paper. (KTVB.com)
- Ada County has updated the local laws regarding pets. Boise Patch informs pet owners new guidelines including a list of prohibited animals in the county, a limitation on the number of dogs and cats in a home and keeping strays without notifying animal control. The issue of that dog barking in the neighborhood all night is also addressed. (Boise Patch)
- I will admit, I was pretty proud of myself for this story. KLIX-AM's Greg Jannetta interviews Idahoans asking them one simple question about the state. Many, many living in the Gem State were unable to come up with the correct answer. This story proves I do remember fourth grade, the year we studied Idaho. (News Radio 1310 KLIX)
- Idaho government spent a record $5.7 million to house foster children and much of that money went out of state. CBS2 reporter Ryan Hawes writes the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is unable to separate the dollar amount for housing youth out of state. In 2022, the state placed 2,756 children in foster care with only 1,209 licensed foster homes. (idahonews)
- Someone loves golf at Warm Springs Golf Course. BoiseDev's Margaret Carmel writes an anonymous donor has provided the city a $3.5 million donation to build a new combination community center and clubhouse near the Greenbelt in Southeast Boise. The structure would replace two 50-year-old double-wide trailers. In addition to a golf clubhouse, the building would also serve hikers and Greenbelt users. (boisedev.com)
