The fire broke out on June 29, 2016, after Kemp allegedly set off roman candles near the gate to Table Rock. One of the fireworks apparently tipped over and ignited a hillside. Kemp initially told authorities that he wasn't involved with the fireworks, but by August recanted, according to the Idaho Statesman.
The restitution will reimburse the Bureau of Land Management and Boise Fire for resources used to put out the fire. The restitution should also cover the costs of replacing a home that burned down during the fire.
