Mayor Names Ron Winegar Acting Boise Police Chief
Mayor McLean today announced that she is naming Ron Winegar as Acting Chief of the Boise Police Department, effective April 24.
Mayor McLean today announced that she is naming Ron Winegar as Acting Chief of the Boise Police Department, effective April 24. A 26-year veteran with the department, Winegar formerly served as deputy chief. “I appreciate Ron’s sense of duty and service in his willingness to step in as Acting Chief during this crucial time for our city, and for the department. Ron demonstrates a sincere understanding and engaging approach to leadership. He will provide a great deal of stability to the department during the COVID-19 health crisis."
Ron Winegar will replace Acting Chief Mike Masterson, who is retiring. The City of Boise continues its process to search for a new police chief and will release the next stages of the process shortly.
