Divers recover one man's body from Snake River in Idaho Falls as search for second continues (idahopress.com) — Divers in Idaho Falls have recovered the body of an 88-year-old Arizona man who fell into the Snake River near the Broadway Bridge late last month, while the search continues for a Louisiana man who disappeared there in June. Local authorities and the coroner are now investigating, underscoring ongoing safety concerns along this busy stretch of river in Idaho Falls.
2. Energy, versatility and memes: Idaho Falls volleyball keeps churning out wins (postregister.com) — Idaho Falls High School's volleyball team rallied after dropping the first set at Bonneville, using depth, energy, and some quirky TikTok-inspired motivation to win three straight frames. Coach Jayde Jenkins is still experimenting with lineups, but credits the Tigers' deep, versatile bench and vocal leaders like libero Oakley Parker and outside hitter Leah Thomas for their strong early-season record.
3. Four East Idaho first responders receive state's Medal of Honor (idahostatejournal.com) — Two Idaho Falls Fire Department senior firefighters have received the Idaho Medal of Honor for rescuing four people from an overturned car in a Bingham County canal while off duty, highlighting the department's courage and commitment. Alongside two decorated Pocatello officers and other Idaho responders, they were honored at the State Capitol for risking their lives to save others.
4. Raven-Flint U conversion plans land on NRC docket, in Launch Pad (ans.org) — An Idaho Falls–based nuclear technology company, Raven-Flint, is seeking NRC approval to dramatically increase the amount of uranium it can handle at its local research lab as it scales up a new conversion process. The firm, which works closely with Idaho National Laboratory, aims to move from bench-scale experiments toward a pilot plant and eventually a full commercial facility by 2030.
5. Festival of Trees Will Hit Milestone This Year (localnews8.com) — Idaho Falls' beloved Festival of Trees is gearing up for its 60th anniversary, and organizers are already recruiting volunteers and sponsors to help pull off this nostalgic celebration. Residents are invited to share favorite memories and photos from past festivals, pitch in with decorating, crafts, or baking, and connect through the event's Facebook page before the holiday rush begins.
