1. 25 years later: East Idahoans say they'll never forget tragedy of 9/11 or the national unity it inspired (idahopress.com) — Idaho Falls residents can honor 9/11 by joining the Police Department's annual Memorial Stair Climb at the Anheuser-Busch malt house tower, a fundraiser for local first-responder wellness and training programs. Across East Idaho, communities in Pocatello, Blackfoot, Montpelier and beyond are holding ceremonies, talks and a documentary screening to remember the attacks and recapture the sense of unity that followed.
2. Local man faces charge of felony video voyeurism after allegedly threatening to release sex tape (eastidahonews.com) — An Idaho Falls man has been arrested on a felony video voyeurism charge after allegedly threatening to release a sex video of a woman who planned to move out of state. Court records describe text messages and a brief recording that investigators say were used as blackmail. He remains presumed innocent and is scheduled for a court appearance this Friday afternoon.
3. Idaho upcoming events Sep 07 (lemonwire.com) — Idaho Falls residents have a hometown matchup coming up as the Spud Kings host the Billings Cattle Punchers in a preseason game at Mountain America Center on Sept. 12. The statewide roundup also highlights concerts, rodeos, and college football across Idaho during the week of Sept. 7–13.
4. USDA wants to rebuild the American beef herd. Idaho ranchers aren't sold yet (ksl.com) — Federal agriculture officials outlined a Ranchers First Initiative while East Idaho ranchers, including those affected by an Idaho Falls beef plant closure, questioned whether it tackles the real problems. Local producers say more inspectors and a larger cattle herd matter more than new loan programs, and some argue government should step back and let supply and demand rebalance the beef industry.
5. Authorities: Two suicidal men die in separate incidents involving guns and law enforcement within 48 hours in East Idaho (idahopress.com) — An Idaho Falls man has been identified as one of two people who died in separate, gun-related incidents involving law enforcement in eastern Idaho within 48 hours. One shooting happened near Iona and the other outside a Rigby bar, prompting multi-agency responses including Idaho Falls Ambulance and temporary closure of Rigby's South State Street.
