1. Idaho Falls festival to honor nation, veterans and 9/11 heroes (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls residents can join a free America250 Freedom Festival at the Bonneville County Fairgrounds this Friday evening, honoring 9/11 heroes and local veterans. You'll see the touring Idaho Liberty Bell, enjoy performances by Jay Osmond and Eagle Rock Pipe and Drums, and take part in history trivia, kids' activities, and a time capsule while writing cards for local veterans.
2. Bonneville County woman accused of nearly hitting three people with a car (eastidahonews.com) — An Idaho Falls woman has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault after allegedly speeding a Camaro toward three people outside the local WinCo, nearly hitting one of them. Deputies say she admitted drinking beforehand, and surveillance footage led to her arrest; she's scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 22 and remains presumed innocent.
3. AG Labrador's ICAC Unit Arrests Three, Including Police Sergeant, in August Child Exploitation Cases (bigcountrynewsconnection.com) — Idaho Falls Police helped the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrest three men in separate August child exploitation cases, including one in Bonneville County. The Attorney General says a network of agencies from Idaho Falls to Twin Falls is working together to track online predators, and residents are urged to report any suspected exploitation immediately.
4. Idaho kratom debate continues after federal opioid compound ban (idahostatejournal.com) — Idaho Falls residents are already living under a city ordinance that bans kratom sales, even as Idaho's broader debate over the supplement continues after a new federal ban on certain synthetic opioid compounds. Local coroner Shante Sanchez backs an outright ban, while medical experts and users push for regulation over prohibition, leaving future state rules still unsettled.
5. Rich Broadcasting seeking new home after court order to vacate (localnews8.com) — A Bonneville County court has ordered Rich Broadcasting to vacate its Idaho Falls commercial property over more than $553,000 in unpaid rent and interest, forcing the company to relocate. While broadcasts for its Idaho Falls–Pocatello stations will continue remotely, the owner is now searching for a new, more visible facility in Idaho Falls to house future operations.
