Man dies after being rescued from the Snake River (localnews8.com) — An elderly Idaho Falls man has died after being pulled from the Snake River along its west bank, despite rapid response and life-saving efforts from Idaho Falls Police and Fire EMS. Authorities are investigating the case as a possible suicide and are encouraging residents to seek help through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and regional mental health providers.
4. Idaho Falls hosting 21 nations for 45th World Fly Fishing Championship (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls is welcoming anglers from more than 21 nations this week for the 45th World Fly Fishing Championship, with parades and ceremonies along the Snake River Greenbelt. Events run through Friday on nearby rivers and lakes, highlighting the region's renowned fisheries while conservation groups urge visitors to fish responsibly during a low-water year.
5. Former Nairobi resident attends Saturday's bake sale to help African girls (rexburgstandardjournal.com) — A couple who recently moved to Idaho Falls from Nairobi spent Saturday supporting a large local bake sale raising money for hygiene kits and training for African girls. They shared how limited access to sanitary supplies forces many girls to miss school, and encouraged Idaho Falls neighbors to keep donating so more kits, sewing machines, and job training can be provided.
