1. Paintball and CPR? The Idaho Heart Foundation to host free paintball night and life-saving training (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls families can head to Bunker Village on Sept. 19 for a free paintball afternoon that also teaches hands-only CPR and AED skills, hosted by the Idaho Heart Foundation's youth ambassadors. Supported by local hospitals and businesses, the event aims to build teens' confidence in emergencies while also funding AEDs for first responders and medical scholarships at the College of Eastern Idaho.
2. Museum of Idaho's executive director joins the CEI board (eastidahonews.com) — Idaho Falls native Jeff Carr, executive director of the Museum of Idaho, has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the College of Eastern Idaho board and plans to run for election in November. He hopes to strengthen community engagement with CEI, support use of the new Future Tech Building, and keep student success at the center of decisions affecting local education.
3. Greater Idaho Falls Chamber selects Carrie Athay as next CEO (localnews8.com) — Idaho Falls residents will see new leadership at the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce as local nonprofit veteran Carrie Athay becomes CEO on October 1. Athay, known for her work with the Idaho Falls Symphony and Museum of Idaho, will guide chamber operations, business partnerships, and regional economic initiatives following the recent resignation of former CEO Paul Baker.
4. Soaring higher: Model airplane club flies to new heights at 'field of dreams' (localnews8.com) — Idaho Falls hobbyists now have a new place to fly model airplanes at Noise Park, where the Desert Eagles Model Airplane Club has built a 400-foot artificial-turf runway. Locals are invited to Saturday's grand opening on West Arco Highway, featuring free hot dogs, cake, buddy-box training flights for beginners, and a chance to win a ready-to-fly plane.
