Local authorities explain that most fatalities involved falls or cold, fast currents rather than typical boating crashes, and they stress life jackets, planning ahead, and extra caution along riverbanks and reservoirs.
   

2. Idaho Falls man killed in crash on Highway 20 (eastidahonews.com) — A 29-year-old Idaho Falls man was killed Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 20 in Bonneville County, prompting a full closure and detour of traffic. Idaho State Police say his eastbound Kia collided with a semi's trailer before being struck by a Ford pickup, injuring the truck's driver while the semi driver escaped harm.
