• Clearwater County Sheriff's Office Joins ICE Warrant Service Program (dailyfly.com) — Clearwater County’s sheriff, based in Orofino, has joined ICE’s 287(g) Warrant Service Officer program, allowing specially trained staff to serve certain federal immigration warrants on people already in county custody. Local officials emphasize they will still focus on serious crimes while using the agreement as another tool to coordinate with federal authorities when it benefits community safety. 
• Amid the worst steelhead run on record, spey casters still gather along the Clearwater River (spokesman.com) — Orofino’s Clearwater River shoreline and city park again hosted the Clearwater Spey Gathering, drawing devoted steelhead anglers despite the smallest Columbia Basin steelhead run on record. Locals and visitors swapped casting tips, browsed fly-fishing gear, and celebrated Red Shed Fly Shop founder Mike “Poppy” Cummins, whose small Peck shop helped turn this stretch of river into a spey-casting destination.
