Quagga mussels persist in Snake River for fourth year as Idaho plans another treatment (boisedev.com) — Quagga mussels are still present in the Snake River near Twin Falls, and the state plans another copper-based treatment in the mid-Snake later this month. Sampling shows mussel levels are down sharply from last year, but mandatory boat inspections from Broken Bridge to Hansen Bridge remain. A College of Southern Idaho geologist explains how ancient lava flows, fractures, and the Bonneville Flood shaped the canyon's dramatic cliffs and the hidden falls locals are increasingly rediscovering.
   

4. Idaho man dies during police response to reported gun threat near Ontario bowling alley (idahonews.com) — A 46-year-old man from Twin Falls died after suffering a medical emergency during a police response to a reported gun threat near a bowling alley in Ontario, Oregon. Officers used less-lethal tools but no firearms before the man collapsed, and an outside investigative team is now reviewing what happened. Authorities say no gun was found and an autopsy is pending.
