Indian Springs BLM shooting closure ends in 2027, but neighbors worry old problems will return (kivitv.com) — Neighbors near the Indian Springs BLM area outside Twin Falls are bracing for the end of a three-year emergency shooting closure in 2027, fearing stray bullets and property damage could return. BLM officials say they're decommissioning the gravel-pit access road, reseeding it, and improving trailheads to shift shooters farther south, while some residents still push for Twin Falls County to create a dedicated shooting range.
   

2. Twin Falls councilman attempts to suspend Flock cameras, council approves a revised contract instead (ktvb.com) — Twin Falls City Council has voted to keep its Flock license plate reader cameras but revised the contract to turn off AI training and limit national search access. After rejecting a proposal to suspend the program entirely, the city budgeted $128,400 to maintain 40 existing cameras, committed to follow any future state regulations, and promised more public reporting on how the system is used.
   

3. Boat launch temporarily closed during quagga treatment (kmvt.com) — If you launch boats in Twin Falls, expect closures on the Snake River as the state treats invasive quagga mussels with copper-based products. The Twin Falls boat launch will be closed Aug. 27–Sept. 5, followed by the Shoshone Falls launch Sept. 6–13, though general Mid Snake access will remain open while crews work and monitor river impacts.
   

4. ISP: Filer man airlifted to the hospital after being struck by a pickup (kivitv.com) — A 42-year-old Filer man was airlifted after being hit by a pickup while crossing US-30 west of Twin Falls early Wednesday morning. Idaho State Police say the eastbound truck was driven by a 44-year-old Twin Falls man, and lanes were blocked for about two and a half hours as ISP, Twin Falls County deputies, Filer Police, and paramedics investigated.
   

5. Lightning-caused Wildhorse and Tuana Gulch wildfires burn nearly 25,000 acres in less than 24 hours (kivitv.com) — Fire crews based out of Twin Falls are battling several lightning-sparked wildfires across southern Idaho, including the Wildhorse Fire north of Kimama that has exploded to nearly 22,000 acres. Additional fires near Bliss and Castleford are largely contained or controlled, with no road closures reported so far, but officials say terrain and access continue to challenge firefighters on BLM-managed rangeland.
