Bruins remain class of Twin Falls with Service Bowl win (idahostatesman.com) — Twin Falls football fans saw the Bruins keep city bragging rights with a 34-14 Service Bowl win over crosstown rival Canyon Ridge at Canyon Ridge High School. Behind a big senior class and several creative scoring plays, Twin Falls moved to 2-3 and 1-0 in conference, while the younger Riverhawks fell to 1-4. The Bruins now look ahead to hosting Mountain Home next week.
2. Operation Christmas Child partners with Chick-fil-A for October event (kmvt.com) — Twin Falls residents can support Operation Christmas Child this October by picking up, filling, and returning shoeboxes at the local Chick-fil-A in exchange for a free menu item. The drive aims to collect 150 boxes locally toward a 10,000-box regional goal, sending toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to children in need worldwide. Locals can also contact the area coordinator to volunteer or learn more.
3. Twin Falls officer-involved shooting: Prosecutors say officer actions 'justified' (ktvb.com) — Prosecutors have ruled that Twin Falls police officers were justified in the April 29 fatal shooting of stabbing suspect Colton Copeland, meaning no criminal charges will be filed. The review relied on reports, body-camera and surveillance footage, and medical evidence, with the Critical Incident Task Force leading the investigation. This closes a major chapter in a case that has drawn local concern.
4. Memorial held for SoCal native killed in mass shooting at Idaho In-N-Out (newsnationnow.com) — A Southern California memorial honored 59-year-old Christopher Claunch, who was killed in the August 1 mass shooting at the newly opened In-N-Out in Twin Falls. Claunch, a longtime Idaho resident with roots in Santa Clarita, died in the drive-thru when a gunman opened fire, killing three and injuring seven before taking his own life. In-N-Out catered the gathering as friends and family remembered Claunch's life.
