3 Inches Of Snow Possible Wednesday, Morning Commute Could Be Messy

The Chicago area has a "medium" chance of getting "at least 3 inches of snow" but morning travel will almost certainly be affected.

ILLINOIS — The Chicago area could see multiple chances for snow this week, with accumulating snow possible mid-week.

Monday will start the week off dry and cloudy, with a high of 34 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago. Tuesday will also be cloudy and dry with a high of 35, but snow will begin late Tuesday night.

The weather service said snow will move into the area on Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday, with a "medium" chance of "at least 3 inches of snow" in most of the Chicago area. The highest amount of snow is expected south of the Kankakee River, but low visibility and slick travel are possible during the Wednesday morning commute.

According to AccuWeather, the Chicago area will most likely see between 1 and 3 inches of snow on Wednesday (a 72 percent chance). The private forecaster gave a 17 percent chance of 3 to 6 inches of snow and a 9 percent chance of a coating to an inch of snow.

More snow is possible on Thursday, which has a high of 30 degrees, according to the weather service. Friday will have a high of 35 degrees, and again, there is a chance of snow.

AccuWeather said a couple of flurries are possible in the afternoon and gave a forecast of .1 inches of snow for Friday.
