35-Year-Old Fatally Struck By 2 Hit-And-Run Drivers While Crossing The Street: Police
Ben Jorgenson was a machinist, a lifelong Illinois resident and a father, according to a GoFundMe started to support his children.
BARTLETT, IL — A 35-year-old man was killed over the weekend after he was struck by two drivers, both of whom fled the scene, according to authorities.
Ben Jorgenson, of Streamwood, was crossing Lake Street at Valley Lane in Bartlett around 7 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by two vehicles traveling west, police said.
Neither driver stopped to render aid, according to police, although a GoFundMe that was started to support Jorgenson’s children said that two good Samaritans rushed to help. Jorgenson was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, according to police.

In addition to being a father, Jorgenson was a machinist and lifelong Illinois resident, the GoFundMe said.
“Ben made sure to let his loved ones know how much they meant to him,” the fundraiser said.

Investigators believe one of the striking vehicles is red and the other may be a dark-colored four-door Chevrolet Trax or GMC Terrain dating from 2015 to 2022. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 630-837-0846.
