45 MPH Winds, Sharp Temperature Drop To Start The Weekend In Illinois

A wind advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday for the Chicago area.

ILLINOIS — Not only will a strong cold front bring a drop in temperatures to the area on Saturday, but a wind advisory has also been issued as well.

The wind advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday for all of northern Illinois, including the Chicago area.

The National Weather Service said winds could gust up to 45 mph, and could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages are also possible.

When the cold front moves through Friday night, temps will drop into the 20s, and the high for Saturday is only 32 degrees. Wind chills on Saturday morning could be around zero degrees, according to the weather service.

AccuWeather called for a high of 33 on Saturday, and a high of 42 on Sunday which will be "breezy and not as cold."

Temperatures will return to more seasonable highs on Sunday, which has a high of 41 degrees, the weather service said.

Monday will have a high of 44, and there is a small chance of rain during the day and on Monday night, according to the weather service.
