Above Normal Temps, Potential For Severe Storms On Sunday

Summer isn't giving up yet; temperatures in the mid-80s are expected on Saturday and Sunday.

ILLINOIS — Summer is still holding on, as above normal temperatures are possible this weekend and into the work week, according to the National Weather Service.

Along with temperatures in the 80s, there is also a chance of storms starting Saturday night and into Sunday. The weather service said the greatest chance of storms will be Sunday night.

Organized, severe storms are possible Sunday evening, and the weather service said it is keeping "an analyzing eye on it."

During the day, Saturday should be partly sunny with a high of 85 degrees, according to the weather service. There is a chance of scattered storms Saturday night into the day on Sunday, the weather service said.

Sunday will also be warm, with a high of 86 degrees, and a chance of storms mainly before 1 p.m., and then again on Sunday night.

AccuWeather also called for strong thunderstorms on Sunday night, adding that storms could bring flooding, downpours, hail and damaging wind gusts.

AccuWeather gave an 88 percent chance of thunderstorms and a 93 percent chance of precipitation on Sunday night.
