IL Cop Charged With Stalking; Committed Felony Criminal Activity At Work: Police

CHERRY VALLEY, IL — A Northern Illinois police officer is accused of committing felony criminal activity while on the job, according to authorities.

Tyler C. Bryan, 33, of Cherry Valley, is charged with two counts of stalking and two counts of official misconduct, all of which are felonies, police said. He turned himself in on Friday to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to police.

The Cherry Valley Police Department in March asked Illinois State Police to assist with a complaint about Bryan, a part-time officer, authorities said.

“It was discovered that the reported offenses occurred over multiple years while Bryan was both on and off-duty serving as an officer with CVPD, as well as serving as a full-time Deputy with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office,” according to a news release from state police.

Bryan has since resigned from both agencies, authorities said, adding the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
