Severe weather is moving across the Chicago area, and tornado warnings and destructive severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued Tuesday.
A tornado warning is in effect for southern Kane, northeast Kendall, southern DuPage and northern Will counties until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Chicago area as a fast-moving cluster of severe storms moves across the area Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The approximate timing of storms will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. for the Rockford and Dixon areas, and 10 to 10:30 a.m. for Waukegan, Aurora, Joliet and Kankakee areas.
The storms could bring damaging wind gusts as high as 80 mph, as well as torrential downpours, the weather service said. Embedded tornadoes also can't be ruled out with these storms.
Torrential rain could also cause flash flooding of roads, low-lying areas, fields and basements, the weather service said.
The severe storm watch is in effect until 2 p.m. Tuesday.
A stormy weather pattern will continue through the end of the week, with more rounds of storms possible, the weather service said.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a slight chance of showers between 10pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 77.
Friday Night: A chance of showers after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 65.
