Hot, humid and storm weather will settle in for the week as peak heat index values of 105 are possible for parts of the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday will have a high of 90 degrees, with widely scattered storms possible in the morning, the weather service said. Storms, maybe strong to severe, are also possible in the afternoon, mainly northwest of the Fox Valley.
The highest heat index values are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the weather service. Areas along and south of Interstate 80 will see peak heat index values of 100 to 105.
Tuesday has a high of 92 degrees, and Wednesday a high of 94. Thursday and Friday also have highs in the low 90s to close out the work week.
There is a limited storm risk with a level 1 of 5 severe storm risk on Tuesday. There is also a limited storm risk on Wednesday through Saturday, according to the current forecast.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 74. South southwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.
THURSDAY: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
