Storms Could Hit IL As Cold Front Moves Into Chicago Area

Temperatures will be warmer and humid on Tuesday and Wednesday before temperatures cool slightly for the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday will have a high of 88 degrees, and Wednesday a high of 90, before a cold front moves through the area.

"This front will also bring some scattered showers and perhaps an isolated storm to the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday," the weather service said on its Facebook page.

Scattered storms could also redevelop Wednesday afternoon, south of Interstate 80, the weather service said. If those storms do develop, there could be a low threat for isolated severe storms.

Other than that rain chance, the rest of the week looks dry and sunny.

The cold front will bring slightly cooler temps on Thursday, which has a high of 81 degrees. Temperatures will then start warming up again heading into the weekend, the weather service said.

Friday will have a high of 83 degrees, and Saturday a high of 86.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. High near 83. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind around 5 mph becoming north northwest after midnight.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 57.

FRIDAY: Sunny, with a high near 81.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.
