The warmest day of the week looks to be Wednesday, when highs could hit 80 degrees, according to the current forecast.

As we enjoy the nice autumnal weather, many of us might also be thinking about colder temps, and when the first flakes of the season will fall.

The earliest first date for snow has already passed this year, so no records will be broken in 2026. According to weather service data, the earliest first date of a trace or more of snow happened on Sept. 25, in both 1928 and 1942.

But Chicago's normal first date for a trace or more of snow is quickly approaching on Oct. 31.

For bigger snows, Chicago doesn't typically see those until November and December. The normal first date for measurable (.1 inches or more) snow is Nov. 18, and the normal first date for one inch or more of snow is Dec. 7, according to weather service data.
