Amtrak Crew Member Hurt in Illinois Train, Tractor Crash
An Amtrak spokesperson told WMC a crew member on Carl Sandburg Train 381 was hurt.

WYANET, IL — Amtrak police and local law enforcement are investigating after a train traveling from Chicago to Quincy Thursday morning collided on the tracks with a tractor, damaging the locomotive, WMC reported. The Amtrak train and tractor hit around 9:35 a.m., injuring a crew member on Carl Sandburg Train 381, an Amtrak spokesperson told WMC. The spokesperson also said there were no reports of injuries among the 180 passengers, according to the news outlet.
WMC reported the train wasn't derailed in the crash, but Amtrak tweeted its service was stopped and passengers were taken to Princeton where other transportation was provided.
“This is a critical reminder about the importance of exercising caution around railroad tracks and crossings,” Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams told the news outlet. “Amtrak works closely with Operation Lifesaver to communicate these dangers.”
