Snow, Rain, 'Roller Coaster' Temps Could Hit Chicago Area

The high for Tuesday is 60 degrees, while the high for Wednesday is 38, according to the weather service.

ILLINOIS — A "roller coaster pattern" is likely this week, as temperatures fluctuate from 40 to 60 degrees back to 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Dreary weather is expected Sunday, which will have a high of 46 degrees. Rain is likely, especially during the morning and early afternoon, the weather service said.

Weather should be dry and partly sunny on Monday, with "near seasonable" temperatures, the weather service said on its Twitter. Monday has a high of 45 degrees.

Tuesday will be quite warm with a high of 60 degrees possible, but it will be windy with gusts up to 40 mph possible, according to the weather service. Rain will move into the area Tuesday evening, with a threat for isolated thunderstorms to the south of the Chicago area, the weather service said.

Temperatures will be chilly Wednesday, which has a high of 38 degrees, and a chance of snow in the morning, according to the weather service. It will be very windy, and wind chill on Wednesday night could be in the teens or near zero degrees.

AccuWeather also said Wednesday will be very cold, and wind gusts will be at 43 mph. Wednesday night will be "bitterly cold," and forecasted wind gusts at 35 mph, the private forecaster said.

Thursday will be sunny, but cold with a high of 33; and Friday will be slightly warmer with a high of 48. Both days should be dry, and no snow is expected, according to the weather service forecast.
