Severe Weather Chances Expected Sunday For Chicago Area
Storm chances are possible starting Friday night through the middle of next week.
Thunderstorm chances will begin Friday night through the middle of next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday will be dry during the day with a high of 85 degrees, before storm chances Friday night.
"While a few storms tonight could produce localized strong winds, better chances for severe weather and locally heavy rainfall in the region are expected from Sunday onward," the weather service said.

Saturday will be dry during the day, with a high of 84 degrees, before a chance of storms on Saturday night.
Sunday will have a high of 87, and Monday a high of 88 degrees, according to the current forecast. Both days look to have a chance of storms.

The weather service gave a limited thunderstorm risk for Friday and Saturday night. Sunday has a level 1 of 5 severe storm risk, and Monday has a level 2 of 5 severe storm risk.
Here is a more detailed look at the weather this weekend for the Joliet area, per the weather service:
FRIDAY: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 84. South southwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
FRIDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. West northwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
SATURDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of showers between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 65. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
SUNDAY: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m., then a chance of showers between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
SUNDAY NIGHT: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.
